Building. History. Present.
The audience will experience the building over the course of a guided tour as well as learn about its moving history of the former Schmidtschen Ballsaal.
During the era of the German Empire, it began life as a classic ballroom in the “Berlin style” for the simple people living in Wedding. The golden twenties rushed by. Nazis tortured the communists on the in-house bowling alley. It was a prison camp and a house of worship. From the disco in the rear building to the Fall of the Berlin Wall and into today.
Ballhaus Prinzenallee presents itself and its history in a painted, printed as well as playful theater and dance performance as a documentary installation. Afterward, everyone can enjoy a glass of sparkling wine and discuss what they have experienced.
